Commit 2395 has changed the way appModules are loaded, and the event_appGainFocus and event_appLooseFocus methods have been removed.
Here in Brazil, there is a suite of little self-speaking applications called Dosvox, used by a lot of blind people. A long time ago, in 2007, I asked Mike to write an appModule for NVDA to be suspended automatically whenever a Dosvox application gains focus. That module is attached to this ticket, for information.
Now I think a new way to automatically put NVDA into a sleep mode whenever an application gains focus is needed.

These events have been re-implemented in svn r2396. Also, dosvox appModule has been added to NVDA's official appModules, which should mean that it will be taken in to consideration when making future changes to NVDA's appModule code.
