When enumerating com ports (e.g. in braille display drivers), our hwPortUtils module can retrieve the names of any bluetooth devices it encounters if the system is using the Microsoft bluetooth stack. This needs to be supported for the Windcom/Broadcom bluetooth stack as well.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this at present.

From what I've read, this stack is only used in Windows XP; i.e. these devices use the Microsoft stack in later versions of Windows.

No, that's not right! When I brought one from the shop. The Documentation that came with the Bluetooth Device. Stated that you have to use there program or the device will not work as it should.

I can't find any definite references, but this thread says:

On Windows 7 Widcomm/Broadcom no longer ship a full stack instead they have a profile pack which extends the functionality of the Microsoft stack. Therefore when working with your own profiles you use the standard Microsoft APIs.

I think I've seen this said elsewhere too.

Yes, I think that's wright, when you get your Bluetooth USB, you get a CD with program drivers on it.

Err, it's spelt Widcomm, not Windcom. Oops.

Changed title from "Support for Windcom bluetooth stack" to "Support for Widcomm bluetooth stack"
