To read text paragraph by paragraph, NVDA+arrow down is a useful command. However, on Wordpad, this command only read the first line of the paragraph, then NVDA stop.

I think you are getting confused here, control down arrow is a Windows command that moves you down a paragraph. nvda down arrow is a read all and follow with the cursor. If you only want to read the current paragraph, go to the left end of the top line and do a control/shift down arrow. this will highlight the paragraph and read it to you, but remember not to use any command that might act on highlighted text till the highlight is cancelled.

Unless I'm not getting the point, this ticket is invalid.

The description is certainly misleading, but I do understand the issue. Control+downArrow doesn't read the paragraph, only the first line. This is because the Edit code doesn't support paragraphs, probably because the Windows Edit API doesn't. Mick, can you provide any further clarification?

I am going to close this issue as worksforme. I performed the following steps:

  1. Open wordpad
  2. Write, or paste, two paragraphs or more of text.
  3. Navigate the paragraphs using CTRL+up or CTRL+down.
  4. Notice that NVDA properly moves focus to the beginning of the paragraph and reads the entire paragraph even if it spans multiple lines.
