I just tested and can't reproduce this on Windows 7 64 bit. The app is 32 bit, so 32/64 bit Windows shouldn't make a difference, but it'd be good to know what you're running regardless.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a Lenovo ThinkPad.

I know there have been improvements with Kindle for PC in 2017.1. Would this still be considered an issue?

This accessibility specific version of Kindle has been superseded for some time now by the far superior screen reader support included in the mainstream Kindle app. Closing.
