This will allow pauses, as well as pitch and volume changes, to be embedded in speech sequences. This is desirable for MathPlayer, but could be useful elsewhere in future.

I'm doing this work in the branch for #4673, as it's easiest to test the changes there and constant merging is painful. I can always cherry-pick the commits if #4673 gets abandoned for some reason.

If it isn't too much work, can you guys update the speachplayer in espeak code to use this newly refactored code? I think it probably uses a similar codebase.
