I am adding this ticket just for information, as one can download and use Live mail, but the main issue with this build of the email and news software seems to be that the folder contents cannot get focus correctly, so inbox and other message lists are not usable.

How did you access this application? I have a fairly fresh install of Windows 7 here and there is no mail application anywhere in the Start Menu.

Well, as has been noted in the mailing list, its apparently installed but not put into the start menu. It is however pretty obvious in the two program files that its there. Talking to the people who supplied the machine tells me that it is installed, but not put on the start menu. Many people just add a shortcut, but of course officially, its hidden, but most of us have system files visible.
I'll have a look at it again if you like but I was merely flagging up that it has issues. The older version from Vista, I'm told will work and has no such issues. I put in Live mail to get email going, the 2009 version.

If there's no shortcut, it's probably not meant to be used (or at least isn't officially supported), so this isn't something we should invest effort into supporting.

Well, I agree, but as some people have found it I suppose its good we at least know about it.
Here is some details for ref.

Running the version in Program files for the 32 bit gives.

The creation date on the cd file and hence on the installation is 14/07/2009

As has been said elsewhere, it seems that Microsoft supply this software and its significantly different to the version in Vista, ie it won't work with a screenreader!

The 64 bit program files has it also. Not sure what the point of a 64 bit email program is though.
