Currently, one can change the volume of the speech synthesizer, however there is no way to change the volume of NVDA's sounds (e.g. beeps, startup/shut down sound, error sound, etc)
Although it's a bit inconsistent, the sounds' volume should be dependant on the current synth volume, or an option should be available to change them separately. Blocked by #1409

Hi,
This is possible with Vista and later by changing NVDA app's overall volume from volume control (I remember seeing a thread about this on the mailing list a few weeks ago).
