Currently, one can change the volume of the speech synthesizer, however there is no way to change the volume of NVDA's sounds (e.g. beeps, startup/shut down sound, error sound, etc)
Although it's a bit inconsistent, the sounds' volume should be dependant on the current synth volume, or an option should be available to change them separately.

Hi,
This is possible with Vista and later by changing NVDA app's overall volume from volume control (I remember seeing a thread about this on the mailing list a few weeks ago).

Hi,
Update: wasn't there a ticket that requests this feature as well?
Thanks.
